Program Dates: November 2022– June 2023

Thank you for your interest in Harvard Medical School’s Training to Teach in Medicine. This is a six-month, online certificate program designed to help clinician-educators, faculty and medical education instructors from across the globe master assessment tactics, elevate their clinical and teaching skill sets, and develop career advancement strategies.

To prepare to submit your application for the Training to Teach in Medicine program, please have the following available:

  • Updated contact information and credentials: This information is required for the online application. 
  • Curriculum vitae/résumé/list of awards or publications: You will be prompted to either upload your CV or résumé (.doc, .pdf). 
  • Three brief statements explaining:
    • Why you would like to be considered for the Training to Teach in Medicine program 
    • An overview of your medical education and teaching experience(s)
    • How this program will impact your career or professional development
  • A letter of recommendation from a department/division head/director/chair or supervisor: The letter should address your suitability for the program and support your attendance of the workshops.
  • Tuition Assistance: If you are requesting tuition assistance, you will be prompted to submit a statement in support of your request. Please see the section on "Tuition Fees" and "Tuition Assistance" on the Admissions page for further details.

Please note: The Training to Teach in Medicine program requires a high level of English reading and writing proficiency. International applicants may be requested to provide a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or Duolingo scores to demonstrate their English language proficiency.

Many applicants find the process easier to complete on a desktop or laptop computer due to the length of the required personal statement and the required document upload.

Workshop dates for the program are as follows:

Workshop 1: November 3–5, 2022
Workshop 2: June 1–3, 2023

This program will consist of online lectures, self-paced on-demand exercises, projects and two online workshops.
