Admissions Process

The review process for applications usually takes 4 – 6 weeks; if you are applying for scholarship support, the review process can take up to 2 months. Please note that only complete applications can be reviewed for acceptance into a program. We strongly encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants for the Introduction to Clinical Research Training program must have an MBBS, MD, PhD, DMD, DDS, PharmD, DNP, DPT, RD or equivalent degree to apply.

The following documents are required to apply for the program:

  • Current Curriculum Vitae/Resume
  • Letter of Recommendation (from a department/division head/director, chair or supervisor)

The letter of recommendation can be submitted with your application or at a later date via email to icrt@hms.harvard.edu.

  • Tuition & Payment Information

    Tuition and Payment

    To be considered for admission, all applicants must complete and submit the application form and all the required supporting documents. Tuition includes fees for the two workshops and access to all online content.

    Tuition does not include books, supplies, software, travel or accommodation expenses.

    Tuition Amount: $6,000 USD

    REFUNDS AND CANCELATION

    We regret that we are unable to provide refunds should an applicant register and then be unable to attend the program.

    A full refund will be given should the program be canceled due to insufficient enrollment. Notification of cancellation will be provided at least 30 days prior to the program’s start

    All scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and eligibility. Applications for scholarships should include a personal statement, indicating how candidates will benefit from scholarship support for their participation in the Introduction to Clinical Research Training program.

    Harvard Medical School Tuition Reductions

    Harvard Medical School will provide tuition reduction to candidates of high merit who are citizens and current residents of low-to-middle income countries (as defined by the World Bank).

     

  • Academic and Attendance Requirements

    Academic and Attendance Requirements

    All students must complete the following academic and attendance requirements in order to be granted a Certificate of Completion from Harvard Medical School.

    Academic Requirements

    Students are required to complete and pass all individual assignments and quizzes, attend webinars, and actively participate and contribute to team assignments, including team presentations.

    Workshop Attendance Requirements

    Attendance at the program's workshops is a requirement. If a student cannot attend a workshop, a petition must be submitted to the ICRT-Okinawa Education Committee for review and approval.

    Webinar Attendance

    The program requires students to attend scheduled live webinars. If a student cannot attend a live webinar due to occasional scheduling conflicts, it is possible to review the recording of the webinar. Students are expected to view a minimum of 75% of the webinars.

    Scholarships

    When will I be notified if I receive a scholarship?
    If you have applied for a scholarship, you will be notified of your scholarship status by November.

    What does the scholarship cover?
    Scholarships can cover partial or full tuition. Most scholarships are partial, covering at least 50% of tuition. A small number of full scholarships will be awarded. Scholarships do not cover associated costs such as textbooks, software, travel, and accommodations.

    Tuition

    What does the cost of tuition include?
    The $6,000 tuition covers the cost of the ICRT-Japan program. Stata software and textbooks are not included in the program cost. Travel, lodging, and meals are not included in the program cost.

    If I find I can no longer attend the program, can I get a refund?
    Once you are accepted in the program and after your payment is made, no refund is permitted unless the program is canceled.

    Can I pay the tuition in installments?
    In some cases, tuition can be paid via installments. After acceptance, please email icrt@hms.harvard.edu for information.

    I am not able to afford tuition; can I get a fee waiver?
    We do not offer tuition fee waivers. If you are eligible, you may apply for one of our available scholarships.
