Harvard Medical School has a New CME Website with Updated Courses

The former CME Online website located at cmeonline.med.harvard.edu was retired in December 2017. Taking courses on the updated HMS CME Online website requires that you create a new CME account.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Will my previous CME Online account automatically move over to the new HMS CME Online website?

A: No. The previous CME Online website has been shut down. Learners will create new accounts on the new website.

Q: Where can I get copies of my old certificates?

A: Search the email account you used to register for the original CME Online for email from cme_online@hms.harvard.edu. If you have not deleted them, any certificates we emailed to you will still be there. If you need us to provide copies, there will be a 30-day wait time. Please email cme_online@hms.harvard.edu with your request. Tell us the first and last name you used for creating your account as well as the email associated with it.

Q: Why was this change necessary?

A: The original CME Online was created in 2003, and could no longer be supported by our IT department, creating a frustrating experience for some users. The new HMS CME Online is a more robust, modern, and fully supported CME website that is compatible with modern web browsers.

Q: Will the courses look the same?

A: Our new courses are more dynamic and interactive. Many offer short video lessons with additional resources in addition to both graded and ungraded assessment questions. We are also transferring over some of the more popular CME courses from the previous website, which will contain the same material (updated as appropriate) while offering learners a new look and feel.

    Q: Is global pricing available?

A: The new HMS CME Online website does not support global pricing, but we are working with the website host to provide alternative solutions.

Q: Can I try out the new website for free?

A: There are three free courses on HMS CME Online in opioid use disorder education. Signing up for these courses is a good way to try out the website at no cost.
