Associate Director Online Learning and Development for Global and Continuing Education at Harvard Medical School

Ms. Elizabeth Bennert received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (grades 1-8) from Ohio University. She taught for 10 years, middle school science, language arts, and social studies in both Georgia and New Hampshire. She developed curriculum to align to the New England Common Assessment Program and participated in the district alignment of science content from K-12. In her last year as a classroom teacher, she was Science Department Chair, overseeing and supporting the science department’s growth and development. As Department Chair she oversaw teacher performance and support, training others on how to effectively teach. That same year she obtained a Masters in Educational Media, Design, and Technology from Full Sail University.

Moving out of direct teaching, Ms. Bennert began to develop curriculum for various education companies. She designed teacher education modules for The College Board, these units showed educators how to integrate science principles, such as modeling, into specific scientific units on cells, chemistry, and environmental science.

She designed mobile labs for the National Guard, and teacher’s guides for PBS Lifeboat to Mars games. She was also an editorial production manager for 5 books that were published by Paul H. Brookes Co.

From there, Ms. Bennert went on to be an instructional designer for Kaplan Inc. and moved up to the position of Director of Online Learning and Instructional Design, as well as adjunct faculty. She was then hired as Associate Director of Online Learning and Development for Harvard Medical School’s Global and Continuing Education. Here she lead the development of the new continuing education learning platform, HMS Global Academy. She also supports content development, educational technology procurement and implementation, and global program development.
