Program Overview

The Pediatrics Leadership Program (PLP) is an innovative year-long certificate program developed by faculty members at Harvard Medical School. Designed for physicians and pediatric health care professionals who want to become leaders in pediatrics, this program creates a community of pediatrics professionals from across the world.  

This must-attend program will strengthen your leadership skills and will enhance your scientific knowledge in genetics, pediatric neurology and special topics covering quality, patient care, clinical research and teaching strategies. The comprehensive curriculum addresses the challenges of modern-day medicine through the lens of humanism, resilience and the integration of the arts to help participants find balance while achieving their personal and professional goals.

Graduates of the program will receive a Certificate of Completion from Harvard Medical School and are eligible to become Associate Members of the Harvard University Alumni Association.

    Upon completion of the Pediatrics Leadership Program, participants will be able to:

    1. Develop the leadership skills needed to facilitate transformational change and organizational turnaround. 
    2. Apply tools and knowledge in quality improvement and patient safety to drive and sustain organizational improvement.
    3. Enhance your humanistic side while achieving balance as a pediatric leader through teaching and patient connections.
    4. Apply life-changing skills in resiliency to ongoing challenges in pediatric medicine.

Learning Model

The Pediatrics Leadership Program learning model combines traditional face-to-face class time with online and out-of-class coursework, with the focus on extensive team-based learning.

A key component of this blended learning model includes three on-site workshops at the program’s beginning, middle and end. Each workshop runs for three to four days.
