  • Application Requirements

    During the application process, you will be asked to input identifying information into a form and upload documents for review. To prepare to submit your application for the Surgical Leadership program, please have the following available to upload:

    • Updated contact information and credentials
    • Curriculum vitae/Résumé/List of awards or publications: Applicants are prompted to either upload their CV or resume (.doc, .pdf).
    • A 250 - 500 words Personal Statement explaining why you would like to be considered for the Surgical Leadership program. Your statement should include a brief description of your background, your area of professional interest, how this course will impact your career, as well as the institution and country where you work.
    • A letter of recommendation from a department/division head/director/chair or supervisor: The letter should address your suitability for the program and support your attendance at the workshops.

    Many applicants find the process easier to complete on a desktop or laptop computer due to the length of the required personal statements and the required document upload.

  • Tuition Fees & Tuition Reduction

    Tuition Fees

    Early application tuition: $14,900
    Standard tuition: $15,900

    The full cost of attendance for each participant will vary based on airfare, accommodation, meals, and educational materials. Please note, DHFMR scholarships & Harvard Medical School Tuition Reduction cannot be combined with the early application discount. 

    Tuition Assistance

    For qualified program candidates, limited tuition support is available in the form of 25% to 50% tuition reductions. Tuition reductions are awarded to students based on merit and eligibility. No assistance is provided for workshop travel, program materials, or other course-related expenses. The following support options are available for this course:

    Harvard Medical School Tuition Reduction
    Harvard Medical School will provide tuition reduction to candidates of high merit who are citizens and current residents of low-to-middle income countries (as defined by the World Bank).

    Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research

    The Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research (DHFMR) can offer tuition support to a limited number of selected candidates in the form of tuition reductions. Reductions will be provided at no more than 50% of tuition. Priority is given to candidates from the United Arab Emirates, but candidates from the GCC and MENA region*, and candidates living and working in the GCC and MENA region, regardless of nationality, will also be considered. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and financial need. To apply for DHFMR support, please select this option on your application.

  • Academic and Attendance Requirements

    To obtain a “Certificate of Completion,” participants must fulfill all the academic and attendance requirements listed below:

    Academic Requirements

    Recorded Online Lectures

    The online curriculum provides a strong foundation of knowledge and skills across a broad spectrum of topics. Students are required to watch all recorded online lectures and videos and complete all related assignments.

    Submission of Course-Related Assignments

    The program requires all assignments, typically quizzes, to be submitted on time and with a passing score (a minimum of 70 percent unless otherwise noted).

    Team Assignments

    Students are placed into teams at the beginning of the year. Each student must actively contribute to each of the two team assignments.

    Final Examination

    The program requires students to pass a multiple-choice question exam at the end of the year to demonstrate proficiency in learning the presented material.

    Capstone Project

    The program requires the capstone project and related assignments to be submitted by appointed deadlines. A “pass” must be obtained on the final submission.

    Attendance Requirements

    Attendance at Workshops
    Attendance at all three workshops is a mandatory component of the program.

    Attendance at Webinars 
    Students are required to attend 75 percent of all live webinars. If a student cannot attend a webinar due to an occasional scheduling conflict, it will be possible to review a recorded version and submit an accompanying assignment.

    Attendance at Team Presentations

    Team presentations will take place via webinars. All team members are expected to attend each of the two team presentations.

    We regret that we are unable to provide refunds should an applicant register then be unable to attend the program. A full refund will be given should the program be canceled due to insufficient enrollment. Notification of cancellation will be provided at least 30 days prior to the program’s start.

  • Notice of Admittance

    We will acknowledge receipt of all registrations and maintain all registration information in strict confidence. Students can expect to hear a decision on their application within four to six weeks from the date all application materials were submitted.
