Elizabeth Gaufberg, MD, MPH
Dr. Elizabeth Gaufberg, MD, MPH, is an associate professor of Medicine and Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and director of Professional and Academic Development at the Cambridge Health Alliance. She serves as a senior consultant to the Association of American Medical Colleges FRAHME (Fundamental Role of Arts and Humanities in Medical Education) initiative, and co-directs an international art museum-based health professions education fellowship based at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She previously served as the Jean and Harvey Picker Founding Director of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Research Institute where she developed a community of practice of researchers, educators, and advocates dedicated to advancing humanism in healthcare. For the past 16 years, Liz has served as lead faculty in the Harvard Macy Institute Program for Educators in the Health Professions where she is responsible for provoking deep consideration of core assumptions about teaching and learning, and helping to make visible hidden forces within our learning environments. She is passionate about innovative models of medical education (especially longitudinal integrated clerkships), reflective practice, and arts-based pedagogy.
