Amil Shah, MD, MPH
Dr. Amil M. Shah is an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and a cardiovascular medicine specialist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). Dr. Shah received his undergraduate degree from Brown University, his medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and his Masters in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed internal medicine residency at The Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, a cardiovascular disease fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center (now Tufts Medical Center), and an advanced echocardiography fellowship at BWH. Dr. Shah is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, and the Heart Failure Society of America.
Dr. Shah’s research group employs cardiovascular imaging and circulating biomarkers in epidemiologic studies, clinical trials, and hospital-based exercise tests to better understand heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). He has authored or co-authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters. He is Principal Investigator on research grants from the National Institutes of Health, the BWH Heart and Vascular Institute, and industry sponsors.
