Dr. Joaquim Havens received his MD from Harvard Medical School. He then completed a residency in general surgery and fellowships in surgical critical care and trauma and emergency surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). He is the director of Emergency General Surgery in the division of Trauma, Burns, and Surgical Critical Care at BWH, Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School, and program director for Emergency General Surgery research at the Center for Surgery and Public Health. His research focuses on the optimal delivery of care to trauma and emergency surgery patients.
